ABOUT US

Public safety is the foundation upon which strong communities are built.

The mission of the Los Angeles Police Foundation (LAPF) is to create partnerships to provide resources and programs that help the police perform at their highest level and to enhance Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD)-community relations.

As the primary non-profit partner and the largest source of private support for the LAPD, we are passionately dedicated to ensuring that Los Angeles remains America’s safest major city. Since our establishment in 1998 by Helen Mars, Pam Mullen, Bobbie Parks, and Ron Rogers, we have invested tens of millions of dollars in hundreds of LAPD initiatives that promote excellence, expand capabilities, strengthen neighborhoods and create opportunities for at-risk youth. We believe a safe city is a strong city. Together, we can make a difference.

The highly skilled and expertly trained officers of the LAPD possess the knowledge, ability, and experience necessary to identify and minimize threats to public safety. We invite you to learn more about some of the Department’s Specialized Units.

A safe city is a strong city.

Public safety is too important to our businesses, our neighborhoods, and our families to be dependent upon diminishing government resources.

“The LAPF makes a great difference to the LAPD. With 97% of the LAPD’s budget committed to personnel costs, the LAPF allows us to purchase equipment and technology upgrades, provides funding for specialized training, and supports our community outreach and youth programs that help make a difference in Los Angeles.”
